This Italianate Style home from the "Victorian" Architectural Era is located in Historic Jefferson District downtown Lafayette. This home was originally built as a single family home between 1855 and 1875. The building was purchased by the Raymer's in the fall of 2000. In apartment 420 and 422 the original wood floors were repaired, restored and refinished by Mr. Raymer incorporating an artistic maple, walnut and pear inlay woodworking in the living room of apartment 420. Stain Glass pieces were installed in the kitchens of 420 & 422. The front entryway to apartments 1115 and 1117 has a grand, solid walnut staircase.
The brick carriage house at the rear of the property was built around 1875 and housed a carriage and stabled horses. The second floor was used for the storage of straw for bedding and hay for feed with circular louvered openings on the West and East end of the building. Mr. Raymer restored the carriage house in 2001.
